Karlsruhe for the disabled

Karlsruhe for everyone

It is not only those with a disability that will benefit from the range of more accessible travel options. Families with children, senior citizens or those with (temporarily) restricted mobility will experience a relaxing and stress-free holiday thanks to the barrier-free accessibility!

Tourist information about accessible travel can be found as part of our information on tourist and cultural institutions and individual offers.

Discover the city using the public transport network

The city of Karlsruhe and the surrounding region has a well-developed public transport network. Save yourself time and stress in Karlsruhe with the suburban railway, tram and bus.

Whether its parents with prams or wheelchair users: the Karlsruhe Transport Authority (KVV) is continuously expanding its city and regional network to offer the highest level of accessibility and mobility. All lines have complete accessibility except for a few exceptions on the S-Bahn lines (S1, S11, S2, S4, S41 Süd, S5, S51/52).

We have also linked the barrier-free network and the KVV line network map for people with restricted mobility.

Information for the deaf

All newer low-floor and medium-floor trams have 1-2 displays of the stops on the tram.

Information for families

Seats for wheelchair users and strollers are clearly marked with symbols and are usually located at the first two doors of the tram or tram.

Barrier-free travel in Baden-Württemberg

In the following database you will find information on barrier-free places, accommodation, sights and excursion destinations in Baden-Württemberg, which have been checked for barrier-free access in cooperation with experienced wheelchair users. The hotels were assessed according to the "minimum standards for the categorization of barrier-free accommodation and gastronomy establishments in Germany". Nevertheless, we would like to ask you to contact the providers personally when planning your holiday in order to discuss your individual needs.

Together with the hotel and restaurant association DEHOGA Baden-Württemberg e.V. and with experienced wheelchair users, Tourismus Marketing GmbH Baden Württemberg TMBW visited and evaluated the offers of the municipalities and cities in the state. The results are compiled for you in the brochure Experience Baden-Württemberg without barriers. The details of the equipment can be found in the Internet database. Leisure tips for guests with visual impairments are also offered for the first time.
